Dr. Chetan Nag specialises in biodiversity, conservation, and terrestrial ecology, with a specific focus on urban biodiversity and ecology. His research involves field observations, experiments, and the application of evolutionary and ecological frameworks to understand terrestrial ecosystems.

Currently, his primary research areas include primate hybridization studies between the Hanuman langur (Semnopithecus entellus) and Nilgiri langur (Semnopithecus johnii) in the South Western Ghats, and urban ecological studies exploring biological diversification in response to human influence, particularly the impact of urbanisation on animal communities and their adaptation to challenging urban and suburban environments, including climate change. Dr. Nag primarily focuses on amphibians, birds, and mammals within an evolutionary ecology framework but remains open to exploring other animal model systems and tools as required by the research question. In addition to research, Dr. Nag is committed to science-based teaching at the Bachelor's and Master's levels.
