RESEARCH PROJECT SELECTED FOR INDIAN ARCTIC EXPEDITION 2023-24

The research project proposal titled "Automated framework for detection and documentation of finfish biodiversity change of the Polar habitat using AI based deep learning models" conjointly submitted by the Dept of CS & IT and the Dept of Marine Science got selected for the Indian Arctic Expedition 2023-24. Dr. Felix M. Philip, Asst Professor and Head, Dept of CS & IT serves as the Principal Investigator, along with Dr. Gipson Edappazham, Associate Professor, Dept of Marine Science, Dr. Lakshmi Devi, Assistant Professor, Dept of Marine Science and Ms. Anupama Jims, Assistant Professor, Dept of CS & IT as the Co-Investigators. Dr. Felix M. Philip joined the Indian Arctic team for the summer expedition at the Indian Research Base, Himadri, Svalbard from 26 May to 23 June 2023.

The expedition aims to contribute to the understanding of climate change and its impacts, animal adaptations and ecosystem dynamics in the Norwegian Arctic, Svalbard.
