Think about a star appearing on a clear night sky. Its splendor generates in us a mystery leaving question how it came to be. Intensifying from far nonexistence, mammoth clouds, many light-years away are gathered to form an enormous mass. Now, a majestic thing has emerged and as it begins to glow, we stand in the awe of its beauty-yes! A new star is born.
The journey here in Jain (Deemed-to-be University) resembles to that of a star. They entered the institution with a big dream- to graduate with pride and dignity. Certainly, the assistance of our friends, family, and teachers has contributed immensely to our success. They will continue to be our inspiration and motivation that will help us continue the journey full of boundless possibilities and new horizons.
On this convocation day, we celebrate the graduation of 71 Gold medalists, 170 rank holders, 27 M.Phil holders and 104 Ph.D. holders, on their completion of their academic journey. Let us all come together to congratulate and appreciate the exuding efforts of today’s stars-The Jain Graduates.
The Convocation is the most-awaited event for every student. It is indeed an honor for the University to see their students be acknowledged on their accomplishments. Today is the day we celebrate achievements and leadership skills, and cherish memories made over the years.
Marking yet another milestone for the University, are the number of students graduating this year from different fields. 372 degrees will be awarded to the students who have completed and excelled at various streams of education.
Jain (Deemed-to-be University) has been actively advocating these four fronts, namely Leadership, Innovative Entrepreneurship, Research & Training, and Sports. The journey in accomplishing excellence in these fields has been quite momentous.
We, at Jain take this opportunity to wish all our graduating students the very best in their endeavors and would like them to use their knowledge and skills for the betterment of society.
Mr. Kailasavadivoo Sivan
Chairman, ISRO
Known as the ‘Rocket Man’, Kailasavadivoo Sivan is known for his significant contribution to the development of cryogenic engines for India's space programme.
The Indian space scientist is the chairperson of the Indian Space Research Organization and former Director of Vikram Sarabhai Space Center and Liquid Propulsion Centre.
With a bachelor's degree in engineering from Madras Institute of Technology and a master's degree in aerospace engineering from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, he received his doctoral degree in aerospace engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in 2006. Mr. K. Sivan is also a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering, the Aeronautical Society of India and the Systems Society of India.
His achievements are as significant as they are impressive. Among them are the recent launches of the 104 satellites on a single mission, setting a world record on February 14, 2017 and the Chandrayaan 2 on July 22, 2019. Some of the milestones in his career and ISRO’s have been the GSLV flight with indigenous cryogenic stage, his contribution to establishing a Parallel computing facility and Hypersonic wind tunnel facility, was the chief architect of SITARA, the 6D trajectory simulation software, was involved in the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) Project and came up with innovative strategies to launch India's MARS mission endeavor through PSLV.
Mr. K. Sivan is the recipient of the Shri Hari Om Ashram Prerit Dr Vikram Sarabhai Research Award (1999), ISRO Merit Award (2007), Dr. Biren Roy Space Science Award (2011), Distinguished Alumnus Award (2013) from MIT Alumni Association, Chennai and Distinguished Alumnus Award (2018) from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. In April 2014, he received the Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) from Sathyabama University, Chennai.

Invitees reporting after 4.00 pm will not be allowed inside the auditorium.
Please carry the Invitation Card, Entry Passes and Photo Identity cards or any other identification cards. Children will not be allowed in the ceremony.
Items such as cameras, umbrella, handbags, and cell phones will not be allowed inside the auditorium.
